Hi Carey, Yes it would be great to see your post-processing workflow. I like to travel light and not do much post-processing so it would be really interesting to see and learn what you do and if it is 'mininal'!
Carey Rose Yes, I think that would be interesting. This is an area all photographers struggles with and where our cameras are severe under-developed.
So shining a spotlight on that is good and showing what can be done in the mean time until the manufacturers do something Zeiss ZX1 is a fresh take. Maybe interview different photographers in different areas wedding, event, travel, reportage, nature, sports etc how they have their total process setup. What tools they use and how they edit. What challenges they have etc. I personally struggle with getting a good event process setup to get approved edited images up on social media from RAW and compete with the smartphone time wise, so if anyone has cracked that without getting to gear or labor intense I would very much like to get that input.
Also travel photography with a reasonable backup solution and getting some images quickly to social media. Sure, sounds good. Maybe a thread for content suggestions could bring up some other good ideas too.
I think there is a lesson to be leaned here. If you hang out on forums Facebook groups you will notice some of the best work coming from the cheapest crop cameras and some of the worst work coming from expensive FF. Your comment is denying what is said in what you react to.
I would only add that aside from those 3 C's what also matters is connection to the subject matter. His first rule was that you need a connection to what you are photographing.
If you are photographing a stranger, get to know them first. Shoot that which you feel connection with: be it animals, flowers, sports, family, etc. It was a great class, even better than I expected.
I've met some great wildlife photogs, and they are passionate about their subjects. Same with pet photogs, portrait photogs, car photogs, etc. This is a great series not just because the photographer is talented, not just because he has very competent gear, but because it's also something he has a connection to..
This is his vacation and stuff he cares about. That makes a difference. There's basic gearhead stuff in these photos: - sky in 4 would be a nicer color with more DR - 6 is great, but could be made into a second image by cropping to a portrait given excessive resolution - 23 came out okay.
This shot survived, but what got thrown out? Agree gear-headdery reduces fun past a point, and I'm probably past it. And gear improves envelope, not every shot. But you can see constraints on shooting envelope even in these images much less what's thrown out. I think the refrain is unhelpful, "be more talented instead of spending money" or "get out and take photos. It's non-actionable discouragement. It would be better to discuss concrete steps that increased your own skill that others can take by investing time or energy.
Initial sample gallery was great, and these photos just made an excellent addition to it. My brother-in-law's gf loves that camera. Thank you Carey for posting one of the first positive Canon articles in a long time. I think too, the M is a great camera, considering its price and especially for photography beginners.
It's considerably cheaper than an A while offering about the same AF and photo quality plus a flippy screen. If it had a hotshoe I would have maybe got it instead of my M50 travel camera. Oh and great pictures by the way. Shiranai - thank you for your comment! I also quite like the M50 - and recently I was second-guessing my choice because the M has no viewfinder, but at least it has manual flash control and one can optically trigger external flashes that way. Butbutbut this has no 15 stops of dynamic range, high isos and big bursts.
Those pictures are not real, no one could take great pictures with that sub dollar cam! I'm really drawn to the Canon EF-M system with it's tiny, bargain-basement lenses and small compact camera bodies. The Canon EOS M is the first camera I've reviewed and then subsequently bought But I don't want to compromise substantially on image quality, and since I still don't fully enjoy photography on a smartphone, the latest Pixel or iPhone are both counted out.
Why it works for me Poolside portrait. I'll admit, this is the first wedding I've attended that included crowdsurfing. I could go on, but instead, let's hop over to what isn't so hot on the M What I'd change I should really Photoshop out that black stick thing at lower right.

AmPhotoNJ thanks. This lets me know its potential and limitations. Jonathan Mac Some very nice images there I may have to start cutting back on knocking Canon's sensors It's the same sensor as the 6D II though.
Didn't know that the 1DX II is dual pixel, but of course those are bigger pixels. Haven't tired the 80D. Please stop assuming I've not tried all of these FF cameras.
Again, please stop assuming I've not tried all of these full framed cameras. No one who cares about the reality of sensor performance cites them. For me that sample is more than usable. You facts seem to be quite off. Now, the AF of the body Ironic that. Aniell Dont be fooled, your phone will probably take better images. Dareshooter Sure then he get some good shots of the bridge you live under. B Bob I enjoyed your article when I read it a few days ago. There are several excellent native APSC lenses for that mount.
Aniell I think you should just buy a better phone. Stotes57 Great review of an underrated system. Stotes57 I'm looking forward to hearing what Canon may have coming down the pipe in their August announcement. There's no such camera as the Canon "M6". DoglandNC My apologies to Leica ;-. DoglandNC Some really terrific travel photos. HowaboutRAW keepon: Nothing about extremes, put an optically very good lens on the Sony and shoot the same scene that you've shot with a Canon "M" and a good Canon "M" lens, extract to 8 bit tiff with good extraction software, so not crap like Silkypix and the problem is easy to see--even with just a good 8 bit monitor.
DShooterUK Nice images from a very practical and inexpensive travel camera. Terrano I bought it for my staff in my real estate company and I find it really bad when the light is poor. Carey Rose The standard zoom is alright, but only really in daylight. Terrano Thanks Carey.
Angrymagpie You sir is emblematic of why I often don't feel motivated to look at the comment section. Good grief indeed. HTM Seems the M does quite well. TheNickle Sarge, the reason you're accusing this as being adventorial is because you can't handle the fact that these samples were shot with a Canon. They do make great glass, though. PhotoKhan Sarge, You make a contentious statement, while supporting absolute assertions based on sheer ignorance. TheNickle Independent you say? DeltaFoxtrot sarge - 'Your fickle, thin-skinned indignance' - bit harsh don't you think?
Wildabobalore "I'm off to go make a living with my gear You blow on the sensor with your mouth? DarnGoodPhotos Well thank god someone explained to the photography website writer, with lots of experience with cameras, how she should evaluate a camera.
PhotoKhan "It's not the absolute smallest, but with the EF-M 22mm F2 pancake prime lens literally the only lens I own for it , it's still just about pocketable". Thoughts R Us Yes, the much maligned Canon M system does seem to punch above its weight, so to speak, and turns out to be a great choice for many uses.
PhotoKhan "Canon can not catch up. PhotoKhan That is true for most the most part of recent Canon camera and lenses products, as systematically demonstrated by DPR's galleries, Thoughts R Us One thing I've noticed: look at the articles that are about actually using a camera for real world stuff: how many of them involve Canon equipment. PhotoKhan My thoughts, exactly.
I used to be troubled about the disconnect between DPR demographics and the real world. I now only find it extremely amusing.
Michael B 66 Carey: Great photos and great article. A camera I want to have with me always and that is nearly always with me!
Pavel K I had read on forums in Dpreview about bad built quality of Canon M50, about internal flash, that opens itself anytime you take M50 from your bag Dareshooter Patel.

Carey Rose Good location and good subject matter always helps :. DarnGoodPhotos Photo 21 with the couple dancing to the band is very nice. Carey Rose Thank you, really appreciate it. Sharif Great article. Carey Rose I remember when the M5 was released and I thought it signaled new potential for the M system - seems it's worked!
Mr Bolton No. Not the same pics. My low-light test shot, which included various color swatches, textured fine-art images, a grayscale painting and still-life objects, found the M did a decent job capturing still life, although highlights were not prominent.
The low-light setting did produce some noise, and the shadows also swallowed up some detail in the image. But overall, much of that could be recovered with a bit of image editing.
In general, tonal values were solid, and colors were accurate. I was a bit surprised by a bit of purple fringing in some landscape photos, where tree branches displayed a slight purple tone, which is known as chromatic aberration. But it's generally a hallmark of lower quality lenses. My guess is that although this kit lens does a good job in many circumstances, it can't overcome all problems.
Better-quality Canon mirrorless lenses may show little, if any, chromatic aberration or purple fringing. The a can shoot bursts of photos at twice that speed, which can be handy when shooting sports scenes or when your subjects are in motion and you want to be sure to capture just the right moment.
Some photographers may steer clear of the M camera simply because it doesn't shoot in 4K resolution. But it does give you the option of shooting p video clips at either 30 or 60 fps, with the latter providing a somewhat smoother frame rate.
In my tests, I found the M took video clips that were clear and crisp. The EOS M had some trouble adjusting to changes in lighting like moving from indoors to outdoors.
But I did find a workaround: If you change the metering from evaluative metering which determines the exposure by considering the entire frame of the photo to center-weighted average metering which selects a smaller area , the change in exposure occurs more quickly. Overall, I also found the dual-pixel AF to work well in bright light and in low light. It did a good job of keeping focus for moving objects like cars moving toward you , and adjusting from still objects and back to moving objects.
When panning the camera from left to right or right to left, the video's image stabilization functioned adequately. Like most of Canon's interchangeable-lens cameras, the M has a lens-based optical image stabilization system, which means the stabilizer is located in the lens.
Thus far, most of the new M-series Canon lenses, including the mm lens I used for testing, have a built-in optical stabilizer. In addition, Canon adds 3-axis digital IS as well, although it's for video capture and not still photos.
It's meant to compensate for any handshake, which can result in jittery video footage. In very low light such as this video of a snow falling on a dark winter's night , the M did surprisingly well. There was some noise, which is to be expected, but overall the camera was able to quickly focus on the details of snowflakes falling by a street light, even when I zoomed in or out of the scene. In such settings, even full-size camcorders can sometimes struggle. Jumping jacks seem easier than Ms and burn the same amount of calories.
Actually, you can I do this 3x a day and its result after 2 week is very promising. Of course you can if you are able to, try to do your first set in the morning and then again maybe late afternoon.
This will enable u to burn faster and more : good luck! It is best to wait longer between sets when doing this as this will build yoru heart rate up over a prolonged perido of time, leading to more fat being burned! If you weigh lbs you will burn less than a bigger person, no doubt. Deixa de ser burro, cada 4 ele conta uma, filho da puta do caralho!! This workout is not for loud mouth arrogant trash talkers..
Well I didn't watch the whole video and did of each of the 3 elements. It took me 15 minutes and I feel like I'm gonna die. Ha, ha. My quads are burning. It that guy did it in 5 minutes I'm just trying to get back into exercise and have about 10 pounds to lose so I hope this helps out. Well, I do 4 m in the morning, it takes me like minutes, cause I complete the 4th round completely and 4 in the afternoon with 5 miles of running.
I can agree in the fact that m doesn't burn a lot of calories like an hour of running, for example, but you gotta understand that the purpose of this exercise isn't to burn calories, because burning calories doesn't burn fat.
You need to run for hours just to drop half a pound, and it is just a pound of water, fat burning comes with increasing your metabolism, and that is the purpose of this high intensity exercises. That's the reason why athletes burn calories while they rest, and not while they do exercise, but it is also a fact that, it is impossible to get results with just doing 1 m a day.
It is all about diet, being constant, and also a good routine. You should be someone we read about in the sport section if you're doing this, if you're not, reconsider your career I did of each exercise by mistake and it was killer I'd be curious to know how you calculated the calories burned though.
You should definitely post it for those over lbs Taking it easy on the treadmill is better than nothing, but it wont force you to increase the amount of calories burned after the workout. Sure, it'll increase your heart rate and improve your overall health, but it's not the same as the M workout.
Many rely on the treadmill because it's easy to use and has an interesting monitor to show how much work you've actually done. Its much easier than going out for a jog around your neighborhood. The key here is to gain all the muscle you can. This will help with your metabolism throughout the day.
You'll notice that gaining fat will be slower if you have a decent amount of muscle. M Owns Jogging. I'm confused.. Im about lbs Does it means that i had to do the m for an hour to lose calories?? Advanced tips to lose inches from your waist I spend a lot of time in airports, including 4 hours Sunday in St.
But I always look on the positive side and try to get as much magazine reading or article writing done as possible. Heck, I even wrote this email to you from Gate A18 while waiting for my flight and watching the Patriots-Colts game. Here's some of the tips we used in our plan to help the 3 brothers lose that last 5 pounds of fat in the last 10 days of the transformation.
NOTE: These advanced tips were only used for days. That's the maximum time for this advanced plan. I truly believe drinking 12 cups of water over the course of the day helps you stay alert and stops you from feeling too hungry.
As for the fiber, you can get it from fruit or nuts. Research shows starting your day with fiber helps control your blood sugar until the afternoon. This will help control your appetite.
