Sterling Publishing Co, Inc, My grandmother Charlotte McIntyre worked and lived at the Colony which was one of the nursing homes that was separate. I have many pictures of her and her dorm mates. I have written a novel based around her time thete and meeting my grandfather who lived on Liberty hill.

I have many record stories from my grandfather and from her letters. I remember driving up Route 1 in the summer when I was a kid, with my dad. It looked like a building out of a horror movie.

Now I feel said for the poor patients that lived there. I remember my mom work there as registered nurse for the 2 shift staff for many years and i remember my dad had to pick her up after 11 pm, that place look sooo scary at night.

Most of all, i did like the main enter of the place, it look like a manion from a movie or something, that was the only beautiful part of it. I am looking for the full name of a Dr. Hi Ingrid, That would be Dr. Francis X. Sullivan, my grandfather. He retired to Topsfield, passed away Beautiful building.

My brother and I drove up there a few years ago — we were curious about the new apartments — the apartment building reflect the architecture but neither of us have any desire to live there. We grew up in Lynnfield, knew that it was the asylum, never put together that Hathorne State School was related to a witch trial judge.

Place was creepy even now. I remember visiting my great grandpa there. The buildings were sold on June 27, to the DSF Group who have announced the property will undergo renovations. And though the buildings are off limits, there are tours of the grounds every second and forth Tuesday of the month that run from 10am to 12pm!
