Comment by Calling Illidan a hunter is rediculous, considering night elf demon hunters have nothing to do with the hunter as a WoW class. A demon hunter is a night elf who has made a pact with the forces of chaos, gaining the ability to use shadow magic in order to use the demon's power against them, but at a cost.
The demon hunters ritually blind themselves which is why they always have blindfolds on in order to be able to see demons and undead creatures better. In addition, they are generally shunned form society because of their pact with chaos, despite the fact that they are some of the most able defenders of the night elves.
The closest comparison, in my opinion the evasion ability and the fact they are dual-weilding swords aside , is the warlock. The immolation ability, the mana drain ability now a priest ability, but it is still shadow magic , and the fact that they can turn into a demon should be evidence enough that they are more warlock than hunter.

Other demon hunters who were inspired by Illidan's example, although they were forced to find a different source of power because they could not get it from Sargeras as Illidan did are required to undergo a series of rituals that results in the demon hunter capturing and sacrificing a demon and binding a portion of its soul to his own, granting him his powers, and does not get his powers bestowed upon him by the demon.
Comment by OK did we all forget that illidan consumed the skull of guldan AND the eye of sargarus?? Those two things gave him his "Demonhunter" abilitys. Comment by neither the Eye of Sargeras nor the Skull of Gul'dan gave Illidan his demonhunter abilities, they were granted to him by Sargeras, who blinded him and gave him power over shadow magic. The latter would attain it, and then use it in a failed attempt to destroy the Frozen Throne. I should say that the "eyes of Sargeras" are that which give Illidan his ability to manipulate magic to such an extent, not necessarily that he has power of shadow magic.
Demonic magic, surely, but not shadow magic. However, the Skull of Gul'dan's powers were indeed absorbed. They are what I suspect that which gave Illidan the ability to become half-demon, half-elf in a Metamorphosis. This was part of Illidan gaining his powers. Illidan had hoped to trick Sargeras and gain powers to use against him, but Sargeras made him pay with his eyes as a sign of loyalty.
He was in training to become a mage when all this happened, so his casting powers were increased. Comparing him to a rogue or a hunter is slightly inaccurate. They're 'hunters' in the same sense that a paladin hunts undead. They're more like a magical rogue, in a sense. They melee and become more demonic as they grow stronger. Illidan himself was more like a mage before everything else.
If they do ever bring the Demon Hunter class to WoW, you'll never touch a bow, come close to having a pet, or even track anything other than demons.

The Hand of Rag, Staff of Ateish, and the Thunderfury sword all take a tremendous amount of resources to create, which must be built up over a long period of time. This, though a rare drop This sword is like Hand of Rag dropping instead of the eye of sulfuras But with other legendaries, you needed multiple, extremely rare items to drop eye of sulfuras, 8 sulfuron ingots anyone? Nothing more to it then a random boss drop, just a lower drop rate. Dunno, just stating my opinion, if it isnt diffucult to get, just a random boss drop and takes nothing to make it, no time invested to craft it, it shouldnt be a legendary.
