But I heard that chinese math in texas is better than kumon from one of my friends who used to live there. What is your opinion on chinese math.

Thanks, Sudha. Apr 8, Messages: 1, Likes Received: 47 Trophy Points: I had no idea that such a website existed. I checked it out cursorily so can't say what the difference between this and Kumon is. I will ask my friends who have older kids to see if they have used this site. As for Kumon, my son who will be 6 in Aug has been going there for both Math and Reading since last year just before he turned 5.

He has benefitted a lot on both subjects. He has been going there for less than a year now so it could be that the course work gets monotonous as they progress. I don't know. So far I am liking it a lot. But I will try the Beestar site myself and also ask around to see if anyone has tried it before and will post here if I get useful information. Thanks for bringing this out here! SoaringSpirit , Apr 8, Apr 9, Messages: Likes Received: 7 Trophy Points: Most of the time he gets frustrated for doing it.

He is on level D. Two months he joined in Giddeon for reading and he is interested in doing it. I have heard about chinese math is better than Kumon. But i have no idea about it. It looks like Giddeon math is similar to Kumon math. Re:Does Kumon really helps? I am planning on visiting your facility My son is going to Kindergarten this year Do you have openings? We live in Morrisville Honestly between both i would prefer Kumon, but if you are ready to explore Abacus is worth trying too, they have one here too I think.

I tried Kumon for math with my son for 6 months. I saw good progress on him. I haven't try reading with him. Good Luck. A-- I don't believe your comment is true. Kumon may have its weakness, but it does provide step by step explanation especially in the higher levels such as Algebra. Kumon is a supplemental program, which is to supplement what the school is lacking.

In the U. Kumon is a good program to fill in the gaps. My child attended Aloha in the past and completed 2 levels there and did very well. My opinion is that the system surely helps with the speed of processing but obviously contributes nothing towards conceptual understanding. The so called right brain development can also be achieved through learning an instrument, playing chess etc..

It does not help you become a better mathematician as the child is not taught alternate approaches to solving a problem or even understanding a concept. Benefits surely not worth the cost in my personal opinion. Absolutely agree with you. Kumon may help your child in the elementary levels and not in High School.

Also many Kumon children that I saw never got in the concepts, they learnt multiplication facts at a young age, but never knew where to apply it. Post by Miriam2 » Tue Aug 04, pm. Post by lightheir » Tue Aug 04, pm. Post by Miriam2 » Wed Aug 05, am. Post by daveatca » Wed Aug 05, am.

Aloha Mind math for 5 year old Questions on how we spend our money and our time - consumer goods and services, home and vehicle, leisure and recreational activities. Does it really helps? If anybody who has the experience, would appreciate. Thanks, FB. Re: Aloha Mind math for 5 year old Post by letsgobobby » Mon Aug 03, pm Ouch, that website is just horrible. The English writing is terrible. I wouldn't let them teach writing to my children.

Now I know nothing about their math approach.
